Car Jacking in Malaysia

There are quite a few of these tricks in varied forms. I personally know of friends who fell victim to car jacking, at least 3 of my friends have lost their cars in Malaysia.

This particular one came in my inbox not too long ago – treat it as a ‘highway tip’ from the HighwayBlogger.

This message is to alert those of you who may be driving to Malaysia for short trips.

Travel by all means and have a pleasurable outing. Be extra careful and avoid getting into trouble.

Alert all car owners, especially those who drive to Malaysia, this is the new trick of car jacking !!!

BEWARE OF PAPER AT THE BACK GLASS OF YOUR VEHICLE

NEW WAY TO DO CAR JACKING

You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside.

You start the engine and shift into Reverse. When you look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.

When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car hacker’s) appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.

So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity is now compromised!

BEWARE OFTHIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away.

Remove the paper later.

That’s a tip for you when driving in Malaysia. There are quite a few others which I will cover next time.

  1. Are you sure that story is true?

Hey like mentioned I personally have not heard of any of my friends who encountered this (thank God) but this one came into my mailbox not too long ago. It sounds possible. There have been more ridiculous ones that my friends have encountered so..

  2. those car hackers in malaysia never fail to come up wif innovative ways of car jacking… tat’s truly malaysia hur!

Yeah, I know of ppl who have personally encountered tyre puncturing, knife points, straight banging into car to force my friend to get out, it’s rather wild out there!

  3. FYI I’ve been driving on the Malaysian highway almost weekly for the past 6 years before moving to Singapore. It has never happened to me. 😛

heh..so good ah? Sure a not! What about your friends/family?

Anyways at least some of these things happened to my friends, just not this particular trick.

For a country there more than 20 cars are jacked everyday adding up to more than 65,000 cars stolen every year, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

  4. Take the necessary precautions and try not to worry when youd rive in there. Folklore says, the more you worry, the more likely it is to happen.

Just hope and pray for everyone’s safety. Keep a defense weapon in ur driver seat. For me, I’ve got a bicycle handlebar.

Hi Khairul, thanks for visiting! Actually that’s what I’ve been doing all along.. I’ve actually been extremely brave by most Singaporean standards in the kinda conditions that I drive into M’sia. And some of the people I know have not been as fortunate as I have. Just take for example the most recent case of the Singaporean hacked @ the petrol kiosk next to the police post – it’s the one in front of the customs which I also pump petrol at! Tips like these are good reminders not to take anything for granted and to be that wee bit more careful when in a foreign land.

  5. those guys are very creative aren’t they.

    yeap definitely..
